Museum of Contemporary Art
The Museum of Contemporary Art was opened in 1967, at 237 East Ontario Street. The museum was the first building wrapped in tarpaulin only two years later. Josef Paul Kleihues, a German architect, designed a new building for the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1996. The new building is located at 220 East Chicago Avenue in downtown Chicago, close to Michigan Avenue. Photography, performance, painting, sculpture, video and film are all present at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The museum houses a collection of more than 6,000 thought provoking works of art, signed by renowned artists such as Dan Flavin, Jeff Koons and Robert Smithson. The Museum of Contemporary Art also presents a monthly exhibition called New Artists/New Work. You definitely shouldn’t miss it.
We invite you to relax in the museum’s terraced sculpture garden and enjoy your visit. A great restaurant is ready to fulfill all your culinary fantasies. Puck's restaurant at the MCA has prepared culinary works of art especially for you.
If you visit the Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesdays, you will be admitted for free. The museum is open from 10 am to 8 pm on Tuesdays, and from 10 am to 5 pm from Wednesday through Sunday.
